The Ripley Academy is a popular school located in Mid-Derbyshire close to Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield and within easy reach of the Peak District. We are part of the East Midlands Education Trust and work in close partnership with other schools in the Trust.
The IT department consists of the IT Coordinator and two other members of technical staff spread over two schools, The Ripley Academy and our sister school John Flamsteed Community School. Computing is taught to all pupils for 60 minutes per week in Years 7, 8 and 9, and to pupils in Years 10 and 11 following examined courses.
The ‘curriculum’ ICT network currently comprises three full ICT suites, with clusters of machines in specialist teaching areas around the school. The network combines cabled connection to a series of file servers through fibreoptic and CAT5e cabling with some areas of wireless access. Other ICT resources include laptop PC’s for staff and student use, various types of printer, interactive whiteboards, data projectors, scanners, and digital cameras. The network utilises a 1GB broadband Internet connection through a dedicated web server and Cisco router.
We are looking to appoint a well organised and motivated ICT Technician on a full time basis; a person who has a good working knowledge and of web design and maintenance, plus the ability to contribute to use of multimedia technologies and knowledge of hardware build and installation, applications and network management.
